Ask The Margarita Man... - by Austin's Margarita Man, Mike Laymon: Question: "Who invented the frozen margarita machine?" Answer: The invention of the Frozen Margarita Machine is claimed by Mariano Martinez of Mariano's Mexican Cuisine in Dallas, over 35 years ago in 1971. Martinez "borrowed" the idea from a "Slurpee" machine at a local convenience store. He then modified a soft-serve ice cream machine to concoct his tasty innovation.
