Question: "What's the historical significance of Cinco de
Mayo?
Answer: Often mistaken as Mexican Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo, The Fifth of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexicans
over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Primarily a regional
holiday celebrated in Mexico, it's mostly celebrated in the United States in
areas with a significant Mexican population (and it should be celebrated with
frozen margaritas!).
P.S. - Mexican Independence Day is September 16 (Dies y Seis).
