A Surprising Fact About Margaritas
(from Mike Laymon,
Austin's Margarita Man):
The answer is: A shot of caramel coloring! The question
is: What's the difference between silver and gold tequila?
Most "gold" tequilas are made by adding caramel coloring and flavor
additives to give it an amber/golden hue and a touch of sweetness or
a wood/oak flavor. We usually recommend silver (clear) tequila
to our clients, only because it keeps the color of the margaritas a
lighter green color, but gold tequila will work just fine!
